Filtrox, the Switzerland-based specialist in depth filtration of valuable liquids, is to expand its UK operation with the creation of 40 jobs.
The company's Barnoldswick site is already the largest in its global network, and this new investment plan will see capacity grow by a further 50 per cent over the next three years.
Work will include replacing older buildings with new, multi-storey buildings, increasing usable floor space by 50 per cent, increase of production capacity by 50 per cent, and enhanced converting, packaging and warehousing facilities, as well as the addition of new offices and laboratories.
The company hopes to have secured planning permission for the work by the end of this year, with construction beginning in 2023, and all full operational by the end of 2024.
The move is part of a wider global investment, which will see the company's headquarters in St Gallen move away from production to focus on research and development, marketing and support.
Filtrox employs 280 across sites in its home country, the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Czech Republic, USA, Mexico China and Singapore. Its products are used across industries including pharmaceutical, biotech, food and beverage and restaurants.
Paul Hirst, operations director, said: "We are very excited about this large investment in our Barnoldswick factory. It will create a manufacturing site for depth filtration media that is top of class in production quality, efficiency, sustainability and health and safety."
Andrew Stephenson, Pendle's MP, said: "I very much welcome this planned investment of Filtrox. It will create an important number of jobs at the factory and at local sub-suppliers. Furthermore, it is a strong commitment to the Pendle district as a workplace and an impulse for the development of the industrial sector in our region."
