The Fence Gate in Pendle has earned a Five Gold Star rating from the AA for its accommodation and an AA Rosette for its dining.
The venue opened to the public when six 18th century cottages were converted into a public house in 1982. Two years ago, an extensive build programme added a 24-bedroom hotel with suites, an apartment and a function room to the offering.
Now the AA has awarded it the Five Gold Star rating for commitment to quality furnishings, attention to detail and outstanding levels of hospitality and service.
The Fence Gate Inn’s Brasserie achieved the AA Rosette Award, which only 10 per cent of restaurants earn, in recognition of its food prepared with care, understanding and skill, using good quality, fresh seasonal ingredients and meats.
The venue also received a special AA breakfast award in recognition of an outstanding breakfast offering being provided to guests which also focuses on using freshly prepared local ingredients.
Kevin Berkins, owner of the Fence Gate Lodge and Inn said: “We’ve had the inspectors from the AA visiting over the last week, and it’s absolutely fantastic news to receive not just the highest star rating for our accommodation at the Fence Gate Lodge, but also to achieve an AA Rosette for the Brasserie.
"Achieving the AA Five Gold Stars is recognition of the sheer dedication, commitment and hard work of the whole team in creating something really special and I am very proud this has been recognised in such a coveted way.”
