Fat Media is proud to share details of one of their recent website design and development projects – a new site for Cumbrian-based tour company Maximum Adventure.

Maximum Adventure offers guided and self-guided hiking, cycling and climbing challenge trips to destinations both in the UK and abroad. Popular routes include the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, London to Paris, and even Kilimanjaro.

The firm appointed Fat Media to overhaul their existing online platform, in order to help their customers find the right challenge for them, and improve the booking process for both customers and the Maximum Adventure team.

Miguel Sousa, who led the project at Fat Media explains “Maximum Adventure were keen to have their site built on WordPress, in order to benefit from its easy-to-use back office system. With some extensive customisation to the WooCommerce functionality, we have been able to create a booking system that works exactly how they need it to, without the hefty price tag of some other solutions.”

“By adding pricing rules, we can show appropriate deposit information based on the dates of a person’s trip, and the bespoke checkout process enables us to capture all the customer information an adventure tour company needs – such as fitness levels and dietary requirements.”

Fat Media have also improved the navigation and search functionality of the site, to help customers narrow down their search more easily and see the best range of adventures suitable for their aspirations.

Mike Bowness, director of Maximum Adventure, commented “It’s been great working with Fat Media and developing a really good working relationship in order to maximise the developments on the website. We’ve already seen benefits to our participants, helping them to find the adventures they would like and us to continue providing them with great service, even in these challenging times.”

The agency is currently working on an exciting new phase of developments to the site, including new language and currency options as well as further improvements to the customer account area. In spite of all the challenges of 2020, Maximum Adventure are ensuring that their trips and events can continue to inspire their customers!
