Electricity North West has awarded £36,000 to three projects which aim to tackle energy-related issues in Lancashire.
Green Rose CIC’s Energy Ambassador scheme in North Lancashire will use £2,900 of funds from Electricity North West’s annual Powering our Communities scheme to train and support volunteers to become energy ambassadors in their community, offering households free support and advice with energy issues.
Lune Valley Community Land Trust have been awarded £15,000 to deliver a feasibility study to provide communal electric vehicle charging points for a new social housing development.
Youth Focus North West will use £18,000 of funds to deliver a series of virtual events for experts to educate hundreds of young people on environmental issues.
Helen Seagrave, community energy manager at Electricity North West, said: "We’re now in our third year of running the Powering our Communities Fund and the quality of the initiatives gets better every year.
"This year’s projects not only help Lancashire communities to reduce their carbon footprint, and so help edge us closer towards the North West’s net zero targets, but also encourage communities to work together on a shared goal – something that is central to a green recovery after the pandemic."
