We are specifically involved in the BPRCVS Young Carers Initiative and have been for a number of years. This is a project that supports carers aged 7-18, who typically care for family members with mental health and / or substance misuse issues.
These special young people embrace their roles as carers whilst getting on with their own lives as children, attending school and handling their own challenges that come with childhood.
Every Christmas, all the staff at DRN donate a present for a young carer to celebrate their hard work, perseverance and determination. We have seen first-hand the great work the charity does, and the impact that this gesture makes to young carers in the local community.
This Christmas, we are opening up the opportunity to others in the community to donate a gift to a young carer. If you would like to join us in the Christmas spirit and make a real difference to a young person’s life this year, we would like to invite you to our offices to donate your gift.
Make a child’s Christmas this year, and give them memories to cherish forever.
