The Traffic Commissioners have detailed their approach to tackling rule breakers and to improving services for the compliant in their recent annual report, stating how ‘compliance and quality should be the top priority’.
The Traffic Commissioners however do recognise that most operators operate within the rules and are committed to running vehicles which are safe.
The report also urges transport managers to attend refresher training in order to maintain their skills and knowledge. It indicates that poor management and lack of proper guidance are often the underlying causes of underperforming.
The sessions are designed not to re-run the CPC course, but as an updating exercise on all the common areas where issues and non-compliances commonly arise.
