“Palatine became involved around the time I came in as chief executive to drive the strategy and look at how we were going to do what needed to be done. One of the first conversations I had was about the business going backwards before we could go forwards.
"What we then did is look at the low hanging fruits, trying to buy up smaller businesses, prove the model and in the early days we did a lot of small deals.
