David Mayor, a partner in Forbes Solicitors' Insurance department, has become the new president of Blackburn Incorporated Law Association (BiLA).
The Association exists to help local law practitioners and provides educational meetings and a range of support. It holds regular events and has raised many thousands of pounds for local charities in and throughout Blackburn and East Lancashire. Its annual dinner alone is attended by more than 200 guests and this year raised £1,120 for the East Lancashire Hospice.
David, who is based in the Forbes' Blackburn office, said: "I am honoured to have been asked to accept the role of President of a local Law Association that has over a century of esteemed history. I have extremely large shoes to fill in taking over the role from John Myles, and a long line of highly respected Presidents before him, but I will do my best to do it justice.
"We are in uncertain and unprecedented times, but it is in periods of crisis that the resilience of individuals and organisations can shine through. I am excited at the prospect of modernising BiLA, helping it to not only survive and subsist but to thrive and persist. There is very much a feeling of a permanent change in the air at the moment, and I hope to manifest that energy in the two-year term of my presidency."
The Association meets regularly and new members are always welcome. If anyone is interested in joining or wishes to become a committee member they should contact David Mayor.
