Lancaster & Morecambe College trains more than 450 apprentices every year for more than 350 employers.
By Jamie Hughes, director of business development, Lancaster & Morecambe CollegeIn the FE Choices Employer Satisfaction Survey 2016, we placed in the top 5 per cent of colleges in the UK. We pride ourselves on our strong relationships with employers delivering a proactive and impactful training service for their young apprentices and when developing existing staff.
A college close to the employment market we offer relevant technical and professional apprenticeship training in a range of disciplines from core skills such as Administration, AAT and Customer Service through to specialist provision in areas such as Residential Childcare and Animal Care. We also deliver extensive team leading and management training to SMEs migrating 'shop floor' staff to future leaders ensuring long term sustainability and growth for their business.Quick to respond to the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy we will be the provider of choice for a number of businesses with a head office in our local area but with sites across the UK.
Whilst embracing the reforms for the positive impact they could have we also recognise that it will not be 'business as usual' particularly for smaller employers. Our aim is to take all our existing employers through this process successfully whilst reaching out to those engaged by the levy or keen to explore what apprenticeship funding can do for their business.LMC apprenticeship levy briefing
To support all local employers who take on Apprentices, LMC will be holding information briefings answering key questions about the government’s apprenticeship reforms:The event will address:
What are the Apprenticeship reforms? How will it affect my organisation? What is the Apprenticeship Levy and will my organisation have to pay it? What is the Digital Apprenticeship Service and will I have to use it? What are the new Apprenticeship Standards? Without employers, there are no apprenticeships. Without your time, effort and commitment millions of young people would not get the opportunity to start their careers.Join us at Lancaster & Morecambe College and find out what you need to know to continue to offer this valuable service. A briefing will take place 28th March from 5pm to 6pm in the LMC Business and Conference Centre, where refreshments will be provided. These events are free of charge and open to all employers, regardless of whether they train apprentices through LMC. Register your place.
