Work colleagues June Crossley and Michelle Mellor have celebrated their 20 year anniversary with Cummins Mellor Recruitment.
Michelle Mellor joined her husband Richard Mellor, managing director of Cummins Mellor Recruitment in business in September 1993 and is now operations director.June Crossley also joined the business on the same day and was formerly the banqueting and events manager at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton le Moors.
She met up with Richard at a park 20 years ago to discuss her employment for confidentiality reasons and soon began recruiting relief chefs nationwide. Her hard work over the years has seen the Cummins Mellor name become very well known in the hospitality industry and she now manages a team of six other consultants providing temporary chef cover across the UK.Richard married Michelle in 1987 and met June whilst they were both working at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel. He commented: “Who knew an interview on a park bench would lead to this! It’s amazing to see how far the business has come in 23 years and both June and Michelle have been instrumental in getting us to where we are today.
"I set up Cummins Mellor Recruitment from my spare bedroom in 1990 and when I asked June to come and work for me she said she would, but not in a back bedroom! So we moved into our first office which was the Gatehouse at GEC opposite the Dunkenhalgh Hotel at Junction 7 on the M65. We now operate from Milnshaw House on Whalley Road in Accrington.” Having begun recruiting in the hospitality sector, the business now employs over 20 members of staff and also has an East Lancashire Recruitment Division and operates as an Umbrella Body for the DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) providing criminal records checks for organisations nationwide.Enjoyed this?
