CUBE HR recently chose Positive Action In The Community (PAC) as its charity partner for the year.
PAC is a local registered charity with the vision to have a community that gives the greatest opportunity for a safe, fulfilled and aspirational life, free from, homelessness, domestic abuse and poor mental health.
To achieve this they deliver a number of projects that includes; supported and safe accommodation, community based support, youth provision, counselling, and training, and personal development opportunities. All of their services provide specialist support on an individual basis to empower people to build emotional resilience, improve their health and wellbeing, make positive choices, and to have fulfilled and independent lives.
Last Friday CUBE HR hosted a quiz night in aid of PAC in The Trophy Room at Turf Moor. The quiz night consisted of a number of different rounds including general knowledge, famous faces and finish the lyrics, as well as everyone taste testing various products for the quizzers to decide which was the branded product and which were unbranded alternatives.
The coveted prize of champion quizzers was fought over by 9 teams on the night with the winning team being We Are Smartacus.
The event was also supported by a number of CUBE HR clients and other local businesses who donated a number of raffle prizes, and PAC and CUBE HR would like to thank Blackburn With Darwen Carers, Burnley Football Club, Northern Industrial, Panaz, Spacious Place Life, Spencer Hayes Group, UK Skills Academy and Woodland Assist Global for their support.
Speaking about how the money raised will make a positive difference, Danielle Moores, marketing and fundraising manager at PAC said, “Since opening our youth club in August 2021 (following Covid) we have had 86 different young people register and attend. It has become very clear there are issues around food poverty, education poverty and lack of provision resulting in a lack of aspirations.
"We plan to use the money raised by the quiz night to help us address this by opening our centre more and responding to the needs of young people and their families. Whilst we know this won’t solve food, education, and aspiration poverty it will help us to connect, begin to understand, and therefore develop new opportunities for intervention and community change”.
Lisa Sourbutts, MD of CUBE HR said, “We are proud to support PAC and the quiz night was a fantastic way to bring people together and have a fun evening that also raised money and awareness for PAC. In total we raised just over £926 which we are thrilled with and which will support the PAC team to continue their invaluable work in the community."
