Crown Paints, one of the UK's largest and most successful paint manufacturers, has announced a major investment for its Polymer Plant in Darwen.
The firm will be spending up to £500,000 on improvements at the plant. The investment will include various operational upgrades including the further automation of process controls and associated equipment.Joe Devitt, managing director at Crown Paints, said: "Polymer is a key raw material used in the manufacturing of the majority of products across both of our sites, and the Polymer Plant is a vital part of our production process.
“We are pleased that the investment is being supported by two grants; one from the Blackburn with Darwen Council ‘Assistance to Industry’ programme and the other from the Regenerate Pennine Lancashire ‘Accelerating Business Growth’ programme." Crown employs around 1,250 employees work for Crown Paints, which is based in Darwen, with a further manufacturing site in Hull. The company also has a network of more than 130 Crown Decorating Centres throughout the UK and Ireland.
