Create Developments, part of Create Group - Blackpool, is pleased to announce the exchange of contracts with Stockport Council for a new Hampton by Hilton development.
Create Developments are delighted to have the opportunity to bring forward development of the last parcel of land at the popular Redrock entertainment and leisure scheme on Bridgefield Street.
Specialists in turn-key hotel & residential developments, Create Developments will be completing the new Hampton by Hilton hotel project, subject to planning permission being granted, with its sister company, Create Construction - experts in high-volume accommodation, who will be providing the construction expertise.
Continuing their successful partnership with Hilton, Create Developments has plans for a 156 bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel, due to be submitted to Stockport Council’s Planning Department by the end of the year.
Working alongside architects AEW and planning consultant Iceni Projects, the scheme would be an important addition to the town centre and would benefit the leisure, food and beverage and retail offer.
Stockport is leading the way in transforming the high street and diversifying traditional town centre uses. The Council has secured £14.5m of Future High Street Funding for a 21st Century universal learning and discovery space in Merseyway, there are proposals to redevelop the former BHS, Glenbrook are converting the old M&S into Stok a 64,000 sq ft office and leisure development, and there are plans for significant investment and improvement in the public realm. This is in conjunction with the burgeoning Market Place and Underbanks areas.
Paul Mathison, CEO for Create Developments commented: “As experts in hotel development, we are delighted to be working with Stockport Council and Hilton at Redrock. This will be our fourth Hampton by Hilton hotel in the North-West and will dovetail alongside existing hotels in the town centre. This project comes at an exciting period of growth alongside Stockport’s ambitious town centre regeneration plans.”
Councillor David Meller, Cabinet member for Economy and Regeneration said: “I am delighted to see this Hampton by Hilton hotel coming to our town centre, pending planning permission: it is yet another endorsement of the confidence developers and investors have in Stockport.”
“The hotel complements the Redrock leisure scheme and will further enhance the town’s long-term regeneration and growth aspirations as part of our ongoing ‘Change Here’ programme to make Stockport a better place to live, work, play and connect.”The Create Developments team will shortly be starting to work with the Local Planning Authority to design a hotel that will be not just a landmark building in Stockport enjoying excellent prominence and frontage position on the M60, but also a scheme which will supplement the ongoing improvements and redevelopments to Merseyway and the town centre.
As the economy bounces back from the pandemic, this hotel scheme would help to protect and create new construction jobs and apprenticeships, as well as deliver over 40 new hospitality jobs for local people and facilitate the rising demand of hotel stock in the area.
Create Construction hopes to begin building works Q2 2022.
