If you’re looking to develop skills to last a lifetime, why not consider an apprenticeship with Plumbs?
With more than 60 years’ experience of helping customers rejuvenate their furniture, we know the hard work and skill that goes into creating beautiful sofas, chairs, and curtains, and how those talents can fuel a lifelong passion.
It’s been over 10 years since we launched our award-winning apprenticeship scheme and since then we’ve helped a variety of young people achieve new qualifications and talents they had previously not considered.
Through a combination of practical and course-based learning, all our production apprenticeship opportunities are supported by North Lancs Training Group (NLTG), one of the UK’s most established independent training providers.
Our traditional manufacturing apprenticeships cover a variety of areas from sewing to reupholstery and suit practically minded individuals who enjoy working in a varied environment, with new projects and challenges arriving every day.
It’s important to know that the company you’re working with truly care, and here at Plumbs that couldn’t be more important. As a family-run business, we’re invested in the development of skills and continuation of the traditional crafts we have long since supported.
Plus, you’ll be joining a friendly team of fellow apprentices and time-served craftsmen and women, who will support you in your journey towards becoming qualified.
Elsewhere, we know how important a good work-life balance is, and lunchtime finishes on a Friday give you that extra bit of weekend to enjoy. The welcoming environment, along with great job satisfaction means we have a strong record of long-serving staff.
A Plumbs apprenticeship offers not only a chance to invest in your future and learn unique skills with tangible results, but also helps to contribute to the environmental movement as you help people to reinvest in their current furniture and recreate it as something new that will last the many years to come.
Case Study: Tom's story
As one of our first apprentices, Tom was just 16 when he started with Plumbs as an upholstery apprentice. Now Tom is our quality control manager and fully qualified as a reupholstery expert.
Still working closely with our current apprentices, Tom loved his time learning on the job and found it highly satisfying: “It’s amazing to see so many different pieces of furniture coming in looking ready for the skip, then leave looking brand new!
“And even more satisfying to know that you’ve played a part in adding to its story.”
