Construction Partnership UK (CPUK Group) has been appointed by Peel Logistics Property to build a state-of-the-art warehouse and office facility at its emerging Port Salford freight terminal.
The £4.5m contract will see Skelmersdale-based CPUK Group create the 50,000sqft new headquarters for freight logistics group Rhenus Logistics.The site on the Manchester Ship Canal is strategically located at the UK’s first tri-modal inland port facility which will give Rhenus’ customers access to some of the fastest and most efficient routes into and out of the UK.
The group is now offering its clients a full construction and development service - from demolition and site remediation to building work.The new warehouse and office development it is creating will occupy a 3.3acre site designated within the Port Salford development area and includes 10,000sqft of offices for the freight logistics giant.
Construction work will also involve improvement to the existing access and provision of a new drainage outfall into the Manchester Ship Canal.In addition, CPUK Group will provide 16 dock levellers and shelters, a service yard, car parking and external landscaping. The development has been designed by Manchester-based Bate and Taylor Architects.
CPUK Group managing director Steve Burke said: “This is a high quality logistics facility that will provide a benchmark for future development on the emerging Port Salford freight terminal site.“The contract is also another great example how CPUK Civils & Remediation is supporting the work that CPUK does on construction sites across the UK." CPUK Group has recorded a strong start to 2017 with a £27m boost to its order book.
