Preston based Coulter Office Interiors has designed and installed a£70,000 office environment for technology firm IT Lab.
Coulter transformed an entire 10,200 sq ft floor of the former Victorian Spinning Mill in Swinton into a contemporary space which reflects the 'tech cool' inhabitants and suits their the modern work patterns.
Over 100 modern desks were installed throughout the open plan office, with concentrated areas of greenery in the form of storage cupboards with integrated planters used to divide up the room into smaller work areas. The office also features a reception area, multiple meeting rooms, two breakout spaces and a Security Operations Centre. Coulter also provided two acoustic meeting pods, which act as “quiet zones” to hold informal meetings between colleagues.
The furniture and equipment was selected to cater for the high-tech nature of IT Lab’s needs, with each desk kitted out with inset power and data sockets. Specially equipped recessed display monitors were also installed in the boardroom, enabling the company to host live video calls with its London office.
IT Lab appointed Coulter following a recommendation from the landlord of its new Lowry Mill premises, who had contracted the fit-out company to undertake previous work in the building.
Lauren Steele, IT Lab’s director of business service, said: “The relocation was a massive cultural change for the business as we moved away from individual offices to an open plan model, and many of our staff had concerns about noise and lack of space. These worries were completely alleviated when they moved in and everyone has really taken to their new surroundings.
“Coulter has provided superb service in every aspect of our working relationship, so much so that we appointed them to redesign our London office too."
