Preston-based Conlon Construction has completed a multi-phased project to refurbish a primary school in the centre of Blackpool.
Split over three phases, the programme of works was delivered during the 2014-2016 summer holidays. Following various phases of demolition, Conlon undertook a full refurbishment of the school’s classrooms, halls, nursery, toilets, office and storage areas. In addition to making kitchen and dining room modifications, the contractor also installed new windows, a playground and play equipment.
An Ofsted ‘good’-rated school, Thames Primary Academy has 446 pupils across its primary and children’s centre facilities.
“Considering they’ve been on-site over the last three school holidays, we hardly knew that Conlon was here and we really enjoyed seeing the pupils’ reactions to the changes when they walked in after their time off.
Michael Conlon, chairman of Conlon Construction, added: “We have a wealth of knowledge in education projects and are always pleased to provide facilities that will help teach young people. “With purpose-built facilities, pupils will have a fulfilling experience at school in an environment that will encourage them to be the best that they can be, so to have played our part in that is a great feeling.”
