Complete UK distribution solutions for Knauf Insulation

The team here at Fagan & Whalley was first approached by Knauf Insulation back in 2006, when the incumbent haulier they were working with at the time was struggling to cover all aspects of the workload. Bringing Fagan & Whalley on board to cover some of the surplus work from their St. Helens plant, our team provided a solution to a temporary issue they were facing.

“Four years later, Knauf Insulation’s St Helens plant was once again on the hunt for a haulage company who could support its ever-expanding operations,” explains F&W operations strategy director, Daniel Wood.

“In response to the tender they put out, we decided to partner with our friends and fellow Transport Association members, Edwin C. Farrall Transport - now known as Farralls Group - based in Chester, to create Farralls Fagan & Whalley Ltd (FF&W Ltd). FF&W successfully tendered for and won the contract to manage all UK distribution for Knauf Insulation’s St Helens base.

“We cemented an already strong partnership with the team at Knauf Insulation at that point and, working alongside Farralls, we’ve been supporting their operations with our transport and distribution services ever since.

“Following our success with the St Helens tender, we then commenced with transport provisions for the Knauf base in Cwmbran, South Wales, and have since taken over the full UK distribution contract for that base as well.

“FF&W has a central planning office on site at the St Helens plant, with an office at Cwmbran as well, headed up by Contract Manager Paul van Hees. We also provide shunting services to both plants using specialist Terberg shunt units.

“With both plants supplying a combined daily volume upwards of 120 loads, the contract between Knauf Insulation and FF&W is one of Fagan & Whalley’s largest and most prestigious, and we’ve incorporated a number of Knauf liveried vehicles and trailers into our fleet over the years to promote the partnership.

“With the contract being so large, there are many subcontracting possibilities, and anyone who is interested in working with us at St Helens or Cwmbran is encouraged to contract our subcontract team on 01282 771983.”
