Craggs Energy is making moves into Burnley in place of Samuel Cooke & Co, the fuel firm which went into administration in late July.
Cooke, which traces its roots in Burnley back to 1845, was taken into administration amidst a police investigation. Sister firm Company Fuel Cards was also affected, with a total of 86 jobs lost.
Now Craggs, which sells kerosene, gas oil and diesel to homes, farms and commercial enterprises, has acquired its old depot and four tankers, recruited two former employees and plans to take on ten more in the near future.
One of the two is Burnley-born Jeremy Cosway, who said: “I worked at Samuel Cooke and Co for six years and I was the depot manager for the two of those. It was sad to say goodbye to but I’m really happy that I can continue my career in Padiham and continue to focus on the local area.”
