Collinson Construction has begun work on the £3.8m multi-sport training facility at Trailfinders Sports Club in London.
Preston-based Collinson, which counts sports and leisure facilities among its specialities, will deliver the new 3,184-square metre training centre on behalf of the Ealing Trailfinders rugby and cricket clubs.
The facility will feature football, rugby and cricket facilities and will be covered by a tensile fabric roof and walls to allow players to train in all weather conditions.
The project also features ancillary buildings that accommodate new changing facilities and office space. These modular buildings will be manufactured by Collinson at its Lancashire facility before being delivered to site in Ealing for construction.
The new training facility at Trailfinders Sports Club is expected to be completed in October 2021.
Robert Duxbury, managing director at Collinson Construction, said: "We’re bringing together our three construction specialisms by integrating modular, tensile and traditional building techniques to bring this high-performance project to life. It means we’re able to tailor construction solutions to each of the training facility’s buildings and meet the club’s needs in the most time and cost-efficient way possible.”
The project has been privately funded by The Mike Gooley Trailfinders Charity and was shown the green light Ealing Council in December.
Shaun Justice, of Trailfinders Sports Club, said: “Trailfinders Sports Club is hugely excited about the multi-sport indoor facility and the increased local community school and club usage it will attract on an already thriving site. This development will further strengthen Trailfinders Sports Club as one of the leading sports facilities in the South of England.”
