Lead coordinator of the Lancashire Sports Awards, Active Lancashire, has revealed the new headline sponsor of the 2019 awards is none other than sports facility design and build specialists, Collinson Construction.
This partnership will see the awards renamed the ‘Collinson Construction Lancashire Sports Awards’. Collinson will also be involved in running the awards, including attending the judging panel in October to help determine the winners of each category. Their involvement will be hugely beneficial to Active Lancashire who rely heavily on the support of local, like-minded organisations to be able to host a grand evening designed to celebrate sporting achievement across Lancashire.
The Lancashire Sports Awards, now in their eighteenth year, have been organised by the not-for-profit sports organisation since inception. Working in partnership with each of Lancashire’s local authorities, the awards seek to recognise and celebrate individuals and clubs who work tirelessly to provide sporting opportunities for all across Lancashire.
The awards categories have been designed with inclusivity in mind. As such, they try to appeal to a broad range of sporting initiatives and individuals. Categories include Young Achiever of the Year, Services to Underrepresented Groups and The Jimmy Armfield Lifetime Achievement Award.
This newly agreed arrangement comes as Collinson Construction look to strengthen their core values. Collinson began designing and building spaces in the sports and leisure sector and, as the size of their projects increased, so did their skillset and team: they are now national sports facility specialists who also build in the Commercial, Industrial and Education sectors.
What sets the business apart from your average construction company is their passion for social impact and the broader benefits their spaces have on communities and individuals. By specialising in sports and leisure construction, Collinson Construction delivers facilities that increase sports participation and support active lifestyles.
Operations director at Collinson Construction, Robert Duxbury, commented on the partnership saying, “We’re thrilled to be working alongside Active Lancashire to deliver this year’s Sports Awards, where we’ll celebrate not only impressive young achievers, but the clubs, volunteers, schools and community contributors who’ve helped to encourage and pioneer active lifestyles across the county this year.
“The Active Lancashire team do a significant amount of work developing health and activity programmes within Lancashire. It goes without saying how important that is, and we’re proud to support such a key organisation.”
This year the awards ceremony will be taking place at The Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton Le Moors and the night promises to be a lavish evening filled with glitz and glamour.
