Business is booming in Chorley with dozens of new businesses setting up in the borough – thanks to new measures introduced by Chorley Council.
The council has targeted the business sector as one of its main priorities to help strengthen the local economy and has pledged to support existing businesses in the town and help new businesses to start up.Two business advisors have been appointed by the council, one to help new businesses start up and the other to support existing businesses. The council has also invested further in business grants, launched a Choose Chorley Business Network, organised free workshops for people interested in setting up a business, and free workshops to help people make the most of their businesses.
These measures have already led to 67 new businesses starting up, thousands of pounds worth of grants being given, and potential and existing businesses being given vital advice and support.Councillor Adrian Lowe, who oversees business for Chorley Council, said: “We are totally focussed on doing what we can for new and existing businesses in Chorley town centre and across the borough because we believe a strong local economy is vital.
“We wanted to play our part to help businesses flourish and grow in Chorley because their success helps boost the local economy and adds to the vitality of the borough.“So we are delighted that so many businesses and potential businesses have taken up the help and advice on offer and we hope many many more will follow their lead.”
Councillor Lowe added: “We want established business people and potential business people to know that we are serious about our commitment to boosting the local economy and that we are putting our money where our mouth is.“We also want to act as a catalyst for businesses so that if they come to us and we, as a council, can’t give them the help they need, we will be honest and say so. “I would urge business people to come to us, tell us what you want us to do and what you need, tell us what we can do to help you do your business and we will do everything we can to make sure you have a long term future in Chorley.”
