Leyland dog, Chewie, has been crowned the winner of Lovell Homes’ competition for a local dog to star in a marketing campaign for its new development, Shawbrook Manor.
The competition which ran last month saw more than 90 entries via Facebook, with Chewie securing top spot following a public vote.
The Yorkie cross, owned by Loretta and Ray Whiteley, will now feature on the development’s hoardings, adverts, website and on Lovell’s social platforms following a recent photo shoot at Worden Park.
Named after the iconic Wookiee in the Star Wars franchise, Chewie, aged two, was given a second chance at life after he was found abandoned in a garden in Surrey. The puppy was found in a plastic bag along with his siblings and was taken immediately to animal emergency services. Loretta Whiteley saw a photo of the pup on the Veterinary Assist Group Facebook page, fell in love with him and brought him up north to start a new life in Leyland.
Following two years in his new home with Loretta and her husband, Chewie has thrived – he has fundraised for local charities and even achieved second place in the Best Rescue category at last year’s Scruffts heats!
Loretta Whiteley said: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed! Chewie is so special and we’re so proud of how far he has come over the last two years. We can’t wait to see his photo at Shawbrook Manor.”
Anne-Marie O’Doherty, regional sales director at Lovell NW, said: “We were really keen to include a local dog within our marketing campaign for Shawbrook Manor to help showcase the development’s stunning semi-rural location which offers a wealth of countryside walks. We’re delighted to announce Chewie as the face of Shawbrook Manor - he’s absolutely gorgeous and a well-deserved winner!”
In addition to starring in Shawbrook Manor’s marketing campaign, Chewie also won a goodie bag filled with dog accessories and toys from The Lancashire Dog Company and his owner Loretta will receive a framed print from his photo shoot.
Shawbrook Manor is Lovell Homes’ latest development in Leyland offering a collection of two, three, four and five bedroom homes and two-bedroom bungalows, located less than two miles from Leyland train station and just minutes from the M6.
As part of the Government’s ‘Accelerated Construction’ initiative, all the homes at Shawbrook Manor will be completed within a timeframe of 36 months - double the monthly rate for the area - and incorporate modern methods of construction (MMC).
Shawbrook Manor’s show homes will be opening later this year. In the meantime, prospective purchasers can find out more by visiting Lovell’s other local development, Oaktree Grange in Clayton-le-Woods. Visits relating to Shawbrook Manor are by appointment only.
