The New Enterprise Allowance Scheme will help those who have been out of work for 26 weeks or more launch their own business venture, and East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce is calling on local business people to get involved and help would-be entrepreneurs draw up a business plan.
Debbi Dawson, business development manager at the Chamber, said: "This scheme has been introduced to help job seekers kick-start their careers again. The business people who have been involved have found it extremely rewarding and many have gone on to mentor other individuals."
Volunteer mentors will need to be on hand for one hour per week for a maximum of eight weeks.
