A care professional with three decades in the industry has been appointed as general manager at Birch Green Care Home in Skelmersdale.
Carol Nickeas has worked at management level in the care sector for a number of years, and joins Birch Green from Tudor Bank Nursing Home in Southport, where she worked in a senior capacity as clinical nurse lead.She has worked in the health and social care sector in the Merseyside area for 29 years, and qualified as a registered mental nurse (RMN) in 2007. She holds various industry qualifications including a Diploma in Nursing Mental Health, a City and Guilds in Community Care and a level 4 NVQ in Leadership and Management.
At Birch Green her main responsibilities will see her leading the day-to-day operations of the home, which provides a range of care services for adults and older people including nursing care, residential care and specialist care for people with dementia or complex healthcare requirements.Birch Green is part of the Accrington-based Springhill Care Group, which operates homes in Lancashire and Bristol, as well as a supported living service, Affinity Helping People.
Carol, of Southport, said: “I’m joining Birch Green at an exciting time, with new levels being developed in the range of services we offer.“I’m looking forward to working with staff to ensure we offer the highest possible level of care and remain true to the values that have been built over many years.” Donna Briggs, managing director of Springhill Care Group, added: “Carol is proving a great fit at Birch Green and we’re all impressed with the experience and passion she brings to the role.”
