The Cardboard Box Company in Clayton-Le-Moors has been acquired by one of the UK’s biggest players in the corrugated packaging sector for an undisclosed sum.
The business will now become part of The Logson Group, which employs more than 1,000 people in 18 locations across the UK and has a turnover in excess of £200m.
Logson, the UK’s largest independent supplier of corrugated packaging, has had The Cardboard Box Company, which operates a sheet plant, in its sights for some time.
The Lancashire business has a turnover of more than £17m and has 90 staff. Peter Street, the 77-year-old owner and founder of the company, said: “It has been a great journey since I first entered the packaging sector with the Cardboard Box Company in 1999.
“I have great trust in the Logson team to guide the business on the next stage of the journey.
“They know us well and understand the culture we have worked so hard to develop. I look forward to supporting the business in an ambassadorial role for many years to come.”
Alex Kelly, chief executive of Logson Group added: “Having courted Peter for many years, we are delighted to have finally acquired, what we believe, is one of the UK’s finest sheet plants.
“The business is well positioned to meet the increasing demands of key high growth sectors including Home Retail, FMCG and POS.”
