Capita Local Government has completed its move into One Cathedral Square as it expands its operations in Blackburn.
The new site will become the base for the newly extended partnership between Capita and the Council.
One Cathedral Square is a five-storey building, in the heart of Blackburn adjacent to its cathedral. Completed in late 2015, it won the Best Large Commercial Building Award at the Local Authority Building Control Building Excellence Awards in 2016.
Councillor Phil Riley, executive member for regeneration at Blackburn with Darwen Council, added: “One Cathedral Square is a really impressive base for any business. We are obviously pleased that Capita are bringing 70 employees into the offices – as well as working to create opportunities for growth and prosperity throughout the borough, the presence of these staff members will add value to the town centre economy.” Ian Richardson, Capita’s partnership director for Blackburn with Darwen, said: “This expansion into Blackburn’s highest profile new commercial development is a great step forward for our partnership with Blackburn with Darwen Council. The site will allow us to create a new hub for place-based local government in the North West, helping us to continue to deliver great results for residents of Blackburn with Darwen and the Council.”
