The Lancashire Business Angel Network ran its fifth event at the Dunkenhalgh hotel and was a huge success with over 50 investors, venture capital organisations and visiting angel networks amongst the audience.
The network has seen local business angels invest significant amounts of ‘angel’ funding into start up and early stage businesses, many of them based in Lancashire.Tuesday’s event was particularly engaging as it was headlined by Jenny Tooth OBE, CEO of the influential UK Business Angels association.
The Lancashire Network was formed two years ago, as there was no local platform for businesses seeking investment to pitch to high Net worth individuals in Lancashire. The event is sponsored by Accrington based Haworths Chartered Accountants.
Network director and non-executive chair of a number of high performing businesses, David Roberts commented: “It was a huge accolade to have Jenny along, she really is very influential in the business angel investment world. "Key to our success is that we are free to businesses that want to pitch and we make no charge for angels to invest. We also collaborate with other angel networks and venture capital organisations worldwide. An investment pitch in Lancashire can reach out across literally dozens of networks very quickly.”
