T Level engineering students and Themis apprentices from Burnley College Sixth Form Centre have been on a knowledge-building mission to the Safran Nacelles headquarters in France.
Safran, which also operates a site in Burnley, is a worldwide leader in aircraft engine nacelles and services
A cohort of nine were given a tour of the Le Havre site and its state-of-the-art-facilities, including their cutting-edge augmented reality suite and advanced workshop and manufacturing processes.
The group prepared for the trip with French refresher lessons given by Burnley College’s language tutors. They then met with industry experts from Safran Nacelles to learn more about the future developments of the company and the exciting innovations they are constantly advancing in the aerospace industry.
The visitors also met Safran’s French apprentices to share their knowledge and experience, building professional networks overseas to open doors to future collaboration opportunities.
Neil Burrows, Burnley College’s director of skills and innovation, said: "The visit to Safran Nacelles has been an incredible opportunity for our T Level students. It presented them with vital industry exposure and first-hand experiences of the aviation industry.
“It has given these students a deeper understanding of the career paths available to them once they’ve completed their T Levels. This unique educational experience has left a lasting impression of what it takes to be the next generation of leaders in the aerospace industry.”
