The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) has chosen video wall technology supplied by Burnley-based Ultimate Visual Solutions (UVS) for the heart of its new Security and Network Operations Centre.
BCUHB, the largest health board in Wales, has its headquarters in Gwynedd and covers the regions of Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham.
It provides a range of primary, secondary, community and mental health services to a population of about 700,000 people.
As part of its improvement programme, the BCU Digital Data and Technology Team has established a Security and Network Operations Centre (SNOC) which is located with its ICT Service Desk.
The SNOC collects, analyses and displays data about the performance, security, and availability of the network and its devices to help its team of ICT professionals to detect, diagnose, and resolve issues, as well as to prevent and respond to cyber security threats.
The SNOC Staff have responsibility for monitoring BCUHB’s vast infrastructure in support of its 19,500 staff, who work at more than 250 locations across North Wales.
The BCUHB control room system installed by UVS comprises a Barco CTRL KVM over IP solution and a Barco 4x2 video wall.
Martin Parry, the ICT support and delivery manager at BCUHB, said: "Installation of the solution was completed over a compressed timeline with a minimum amount of fuss. The Barco video wall solution has transformed our SNOC and has enabled us to enhance our service delivery and our proactive maintenance capabilities.”
Steve Murphy, UVS managing director, said: “The BCU Digital Data and Technology Team is working to ensure it can deliver exceptional IT support and solutions to enable healthcare professionals, patients, and administrators and to support the increasing demands and expectations of the organisation. We are pleased to have been able to deliver this project, in order to help them do that.”
