Themis, the new business training division of Burnley College, has unveiled its plans to revolutionise the apprenticeship landscape in East Lancashire.
Recent figures revealed that 1,150 trainees began apprenticeships in Burnley last year – more than double that of the year before.
Now Burnley College principal and Themis chief executive believes this can be used as a platform to create a new generation of talented workers.
“We have a responsibility to help deliver the employable workforces of tomorrow,” he said.
Themis offers programmes across a range of industries, from brickwork to business administration, plumbing to support teaching. The small and medium sized companies of Burnley are now being encouraged to get involved, with free consultations and the possibility of £1,500 of funding available for participants.
The project also has the support of some of the town’s most high profile businesses, including Panaz, the East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and Silentnight.
