Burnley is bucking national trends, having seen consistent private sector jobs growth year on year since 2009.
Private sector job numbers have grown 7.2 per cent in Burnley over 2013/2014, the average growth across Lancashire stands at 3.2 per cent, in the North West 4.3 per cent and Great Britain 5.1 per cent.
Council Leader, Mark Townsend said: “The figures reflect the huge investments made to improve the business and leisure infrastructure over the past few years which has attracted several new businesses to Burnley in recent years.
“Burnley ticks all the boxes to thrive, including skills, connectivity, and access to knowledge. With our new direct rail link to Manchester, two universities, a university technical college, and an outstanding college with a specialist centre in manufacturing excellence, Burnley is on an economic growth trajectory.
“The council alongside Burnley Bondholders is working hard to promote the borough and our development sites to attract new investment, and continues to invest in new infrastructure that can rival sites across the region.”
