A press release by Independent Street

We are delighted to announce the return of The Burnley Artisan Market on Saturday, November 6th.

This event is brought to you as a collaboration between Burnley Business Improvement District (BID), Burnley Council and Independent Street and has fast become a must-visit event for residents in Burnley and visitors from further afield.

There will be 65 small independent businesses showcasing the very best of local food, drink, arts and craft.  Expect many award-winning producers of unique goods set to inspire. Pop along and join us, it is a superb opportunity to find out the origins of your food, meet our makers and bakers, feast your eyes upon some goodies and fill those shopping bags whilst indulging in some good conversations with our team and stallholders.

If it's Christmas shopping inspiration you are after, then you need look no further as we will have something for the whole family. We are delighted to be joined by the Pendleside Hospice too who will be running a Christmas Craft area for our little market visitors.

Our live music for this event is also very special indeed. We are thrilled to announce that Gemma Sutton from The Voice Box is set to showcase for us in November.

Gemma is a West End and TV performer based in the North West and London. Gemma is usually at home on the West End Stage in shows such as Gypsy, Legally Blonde, Hairspray, Chicago and Follies, and has also been featured on TV on the BBC, ITV and PBS in America.

Gemma will be performing Acoustic sets for us from her converted horsebox and we can’t wait to get those toes tapping!

We kick off the day at 10am on St James’s Street and can't wait to see you there!

Lisa Cowley from Independent Street says: “ Since our launch earlier on this year we have been overwhelmed by the fantastic reception that Burnley has given us. This event has been very well supported in all weathers and is attracting a large visitor base from further afield as well as being enjoyed by local residents. We are delighted to be taking this event towards the festive period and to work alongside the wonderful businesses in Burnley.”

Burnley BID project manager Andrew Dean commented: “The response to the first two markets has been fantastic and we’re really looking forward to the November and December events which will feature some amazing seasonal produce. If you are planning on attending, please make sure you visit our town centre businesses too as they have so many great things for visitors to enjoy this autumn.”

Councillor Afrasiab Anwar, leader of Burnley Council, added: “The Artisan Market has proved to be a great success. More Burnley talent continues to join and we are delighted to be the springboard for embryonic local businesses as well as welcoming traders from further afield.  The terrible weather did not deter attendance in October proving Burnley is made of sterner stuff.  The Artisan Market is a great addition to our town centre and fits in with the exciting plans we have for the future. The market runs on the first Saturday of every month so get Saturday 6th November in your diaries.”
