“Between us, Emily and I have three pugs – Louie, Jenny and Alfie – and Lenny the Staffy, who all spend a great deal of time in our office during the working week; personally, we wouldn’t have it any other way!” explained Fresh Perspective’s Founder and Managing Director Laura, aged 34.
“Bring Your Dog to Work Day is an annual event that we really look forward to because it raises money for charities that are dedicated to making a difference to the welfare of all dogs – something that the whole team buys into and is passionate to support.”In Fresh Perspective’s case, having a team of career-savvy canines around the office isn’t uncommon, but Laura appreciates that not all workers get to experience this set-up on even an occasional basis.
“That’s another reason why I love this day so much,” she added. “Our dogs are such a crucial part of our team that they even have their own job titles and profiles on our company website! We are really lucky to be in a position where we can be around our dogs as much as possible, as it’s a therapeutic experience; therefore, I would strongly advise that any businesses who are interested in taking part to just go for it – as long as your dog is happy to accompany you to work of course!”When it comes to preparing an office space for doggy visitors, there are dos and don’ts to consider, as Talent Acquisition Director Emily, aged 30, explained: “It’s wise to complete an office check to see if anyone minds having a dog around; people may be allergic or afraid, so don’t assume that it’s OK. Secondly, make sure the environment is safe – being sure to keep any hazards such as electrical cords or sharp objects out of reach, as well as anything potentially poisonous.
‘It’s also a good idea to prepare a ‘kit bag’ – containing useful items such as food, treats, a lead, paper towels and disinfectant to keep the office space clean and tidy. Finally, remember to plan your dog’s feeding times carefully and make sure you take them out over the course of the day to get some fresh air and let off a bit of steam!”The BIBA Award finalists – shortlisted in three prestigious categories this year – have revolutionised recruitment in Lancashire by saving clients up to 50 percent by only billing for the time spent searching for ideal candidates rather than charging traditional placement fees.To contact the team, visit www.fp-resourcing.co.uk or telephone 01257 228 040.
