Speakers included Dr Andrea Postier, a scientific investigator for the Children’s Minnesota Research Institute in the USA, Dr Naveen Salins, a paediatric palliative care consultant in India and Estera Ciobanu, a PhD student and paediatric palliative care social worker in Romania.
The keynote speaker was Professor Jayne Price, an associate professor in children’s nursing at Kingston and St George’s Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, London. She spoke about the challenges of carrying out research in children’s palliative care.Also speaking at the event was Kelly Yare, whose son Roman attends Brian House for respite care.
Many of the delegates attending the event were from North-West universities and children’s hospices, and gained insight and ideas for developing their practice and projects.
Brian House’s clinical manager, Carol Wylde, said: “A really good mix of professionals attended to listen to a variety of speakers focus on different topics within the field of paediatric palliative care. “Our delegates and speakers worked together at the end of the day to discuss the priorities for future research and the future of palliative care. It was a really informative day from which everyone was able to take something back to think about and work on with their professional teams."
