Poulton-le-Fylde-based Bri-Met has been recruited to undertake a months-long renovation of Blackpool Tower.
The company holds more than a quarter of a century of experience fabricating, installing and maintaining gates, railings and ornamental steel.
The work on the Grade 1 listed building is due to begin in December with a team of 11 local residents carrying out the works.
Coun Lynn Williams, leader of Blackpool Council, said: “This work is part of an ongoing maintenance programme to ensure that the Tower is kept in the best possible condition.
“It is fantastic to hear that a local company has been appointed to carry out the work. When money is spent investing in the town it is so important that local people feel the benefit of it is as well.”
Craig Scott, project co-ordinator for Bri-Met, said: "We are delighted to be appointed as main contractor in undertaking the latest steel works maintenance and renewal package on the world famous and iconic Blackpool Tower. We look forward to working with both Blackpool Council and Merlin Entertainments in delivering a successful project.
"We are based down the road in Poulton so everyone working on the project lives on the Fylde Coast. It is a big project so we will be recruiting more staff and will also be sub-contracting some elements of the works to other local companies. It is great to work on one of the country’s most iconic landmarks.”
