Breck has gained planning approval at planning committee for a new development of affordable homes in Preston, helping to address the need for high-quality affordable housing in the city.
The site at Lightfoot Lane, Fulwood has been granted approval by Preston City Council’s planning committee for 48 one to four-bedroom homes which will all be made available for affordable rent and shared ownership.
Breck has an agreement in principle with Preston-headquartered housing association Community Gateway Association which will acquire the properties on completion of the development. Construction is being part funded by Homes England and is likely to begin early in 2025, with completion expected in 2027.
Andy Garnett, director, Breck said: “There is a significant need for affordable housing in the Preston area and our developments at Lightfoot Lane and Sidgreaves Lane will help alleviate this, with high-quality homes for the coming generation.
“This includes giving dozens of Preston families a route to home ownership which they may not have been able to afford through traditional means.
“Over the past 18 months, Breck has developed our team with expert appointments across our land acquisition, design and development teams which allows us to acquire and develop sites to completion with speed and consistency. We have four active sites in Lancashire as part of our live pipeline of 1300 units across the North of England and we expect this to continue to grow over the coming years.”
