On Monday 22nd March, the Preston-based not for profit Breathe Therapies expanded its offering with the introduction of their low-cost person-centred counselling and psychotherapy services.
The services which were previously offered at Breathe Therapies’ sister charity, S.E.E.D Lancashire, are now a part of the interventions delivered in the non-profit’s mental health and wellbeing pathways.
These sessions are all confidential and aim to help anyone ages 18+, with a variety of mental health and self-development issues and can be done over Zoom or in person, for those who request it.
One of Breathe Therapies’ main aims is to ensure that these sessions remain accessible for those who are struggling financially at the moment. Therefore, the previous cost of these services at S.E.E.D of £15 an hour has remained the same.
As sister organisations, Breathe Therapies and S.E.E.D Lancashire share the same goal of offering encouragement and support to as many people in the community who need it, especially during these unprecedented times.
Shelley Perry, Founder of both Breathe Therapies and S.E.E.D Lancashire, explains her decision in moving the services over to Breathe saying: "We have moved over our counselling services from S.E.E.D Lancashire to Breathe Therapies so that the message is clear that the low-cost counselling services are not a replacement for treatment of an eating disorder.
"This service offer is now in line with our mental health and wellbeing pathways and is available for individuals suffering with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, managing work related stress and other presenting issues. We wanted to increase this offer through Breathe as we are aware just how many people are struggling right now. This low-cost service offers third year psychotherapy students the opportunity to complete their qualifications with us whilst making psychotherapy accessible for those people that would struggle to pay for our specialist clinicians.
"By moving the students over to Breathe Therapies it means they can join our Clinical Team in team meetings and Clinical supervisions which gives them access to very experienced and highly qualified clinicians and support to enhance their learning and practice. It’s a win-win all round really!"
If you or someone you know is struggling, know that you’re not alone in your journey and support is available.
