Bowker motor group has confirmed that its new BMW Motorrad motorcycle dealership will open on Preston docks in September creating ten new jobs.
The new dealership - Bowker motor group’s tenth - will be known as Bowker Motorrad. The business is currently trading as Southport Superbikes which was acquired by Bowker last year.The 13,000 square feet building will house include a ground floor showroom for more than 40 bikes at the prominent Preston docklands gateway location; opposite Bowker MINI and Bowker BMW on Riversway.
The new dealership will take the total footprint of Bowker motor group buildings on the docks to over six acres; including Bowker MINI and Bowker BMW.Bowker Motor Group, chief executive Paul Bowker, said: “The building is really taking shape now and we can’t wait to open. The building will be seen by thousands of Prestonians every day and have a massive impact on the landmark Preston site."
Bowker Motorrad head of business Geraldine Bowers-Lyon, added: “It’s good news for North West motorcycle enthusiasts too. We are opening one of the most modern dealerships in the country. This will offer even more support, choice and inspiration for old and new motorcycling adventurers in the region.”The first floor of the building will become an administrative headquarters and hub for Bowker Motor Group. The suite of contemporary offices will house group directors, trainers and marketeers. The building even includes an employee shower block for employees who cycling to work.
The Bowker Motorrad will become the motor group’s second motorcycle dealership. The first, Bowker Harley-Davidson, recently re-opened in February this year after a six-figure refurbishment. This was one of several milestones in an ongoing phase of investment and acquisition for Bowker Motor Group. In March last year Bowker opened Lancashire’s first Maserati dealership in Osbaldeston on the same site as Bowker Ribble Valley. In June, Bowker BMW opened its new expanded and refurbished centre in Preston after an investment of over £1.5m.
