Blackpool Council is seeking £28.8m in funding to develop Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone with plans to generate £300m of private sector investment and create 5,000 jobs.
The council says the funding is essential to securing early investment in the site, which would spur on development and build market confidence.
The plans also include relocating and upgrading Common Edge Sports pitches, refurbishing the former Wellington Bomber Factory and reconfiguration of Blackpool Airport infrastructure and relocation of the existing offshore helicopter terminal.
