Blackpool-based Tyson Construction are taking further steps to become a more sustainable company.
With the support of The Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy their aim is to build more sustainably and waste less.
Tyson Construction are a well know company along the Fylde Coast for completing projects such as The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, Foxhall Village West, Troutbeck Crescent’s modern, affordable housing near the Marton windmill, luxury apartments on Ballam Rd, and the big cat enclosure at Blackpool Zoo.
Having already been implementing some energy saving measures since 2008, the Academy’s sustainability specialist, Megan Tucker, worked closely with Philip Helm, business development director to review their plan and recalculate their carbon footprint to build upon their current success.
Megan delivered a bespoke action plan tailored to the company’s operations to identify opportunities for reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Tyson have already taken action and have electrified some of their fleet cars, as well as already having solar panels at head office and already using waste from the joinery workshop for heat and power.
In addition to this, Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy will be carrying out a quarterly analysis at one of Tyson’s construction sites so the baseline carbon impact can be understood to then look at ways of making improvements.
Through this collaboration, Tyson received practical advice on improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, and implementing greener practices across its manufacturing processes. The initiative has enabled Tyson to build on its existing carbon reduction record and further integrate sustainability into its day-to-day operations.
Philip Helm, business development director at Tyson Construction said: “The whole carbon reduction theme has just become part of our culture, you can make a big difference from some quite simple changes. The team has seen that. Everyone is 100 per cent on board with it and it’s having a positive impact on the business.”
This partnership is just one example of how the Blackpool Net Zero Business Academy can empower businesses to embrace sustainability, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to the region’s broader environmental goals.
