Two of Blackburn’s best-known organisations have cemented their relationship in a bid to ‘future proof the town’s youth’.
Blackburn College and Blackburn Youth Zone have formally teamed up to help young people from Blackburn with Darwen engage in studies, and strengthen Blackburn Youth Zone’s links with organisations of similar interests.
They will also provide volunteering and work-placement opportunities to students at the College, as well as a referral service for young people, adults and parents to Blackburn College.
Blackburn College’s Principal and Chief Executive, Dr Thomas Moore, was presented with a certificate recognising the Youth Zone and College’s commitment by Andrew Graham, CEO of Graham and Brown and board member of Blackburn Youth Zone.
“The Youth Zone and Blackburn College have much in common. The common thread we share is to make a difference to people’s lives.
"Blackburn with Darwen is one of the youngest places in Europe which adds relevance to the work of the Youth Zone and Blackburn College and shapes the important role that both organisations play." The College and Blackburn Youth Zone have previously undertaken a number of successful projects together and students at the College are already involved in many volunteering and work placement activities.
