Burnley-based food wholesaler, Birchall Foodservice, has purchased seven new HGVs and five new box vans on the back of recent sales successes.
While much of the industry tackles issues such as a lack of drivers and problems with supply, the founder Country Range member is painting a different picture.
The HGVs will allow the company to offer greater delivery flexibility to both new and existing customers, while the box vans, which can be driven by any employee with a driving licence, mean Birchalls can quickly make emergency deliveries to customers that need them, as well as deliver along routes unsuitable for larger vehicles.
The HGVs are also fitted with the latest Euro 6 engines, helping the company to significantly reduce its carbon footprint.
Alongside the investment in its vehicles, the fifth-generation wholesaler has also recruited 7 new drivers to maintain its impressive customer service levels.
Birchalls’ continued commitment to improving the wellbeing of its people has made it an attractive place to work, and the wholesaler is now recruiting in its warehouse and IT departments too.
Some of the incentives Birchall Foodservice offers its employees are on-site exercise classes and fresh meals made daily by the in-house chef.
Joe Moulton, marketing manager at Birchall Foodservice said, ““I think Birchall Foodservice is a fantastic place to work, and I doubt there’s anywhere else quite like it. We get free fitness classes, access to a counsellor once a week, free fruit every day, as well as employee discounts and flexible working. The list goes on. I feel very lucky to work where I do, and I don’t see myself working anywhere else, ever.”
This recent investment in its team and fleet follows a period of substantial growth which has been driven by the introduction of the company’s new e-commerce platform; OrderMate.
The award-winning family-run wholesaler now has its sights set firmly on the future and is investigating new ways to deliver a better experience for its employees and customers, including offering deliveries 7 days per week.
