We are delighted to announce that Billian’s first apprentice, Matt Maguire, has received a big brown envelope in the post confirming the successful completion of his apprenticeship in Digital Marketing.
Matt joined the team back in August 2016 as junior digital designer to provide assistance in both our design and marketing departments. With responsibilities ranging from social media management, website management and graphic design, and enthusiasm through the roof, Matt soon became an indispensable member of the team.
“I learn best by doing, so learning on the job was the best option for me. I thought an apprenticeship would be the best way to develop my skills in a topic and industry that I’m genuinely interested in,” said Matt, when asked why he chose to do an apprenticeship in Digital Marketing.“Billian eliminated any doubts I had about the apprenticeship when I was invited to spend the day with them prior to being accepted for the role. I really bought into the company’s vision, and I was impressed by all of the innovative ideas that have built them a great reputation in the travel technology sector over the years.”
Since joining Billian, Matt has learnt about a range of topics, including search engine optimisation, e-mail marketing and copywriting, but his passion lies in design and he hopes to become a web designer one day. He’s also picked up some knowledge in CSS and HTML along the way!Following a year of hard work, Matt secured the position of digital designer at Billian. He is now taking on more customer-facing responsibilities, assisting our support team in handling and resolving queries from web design clients. He also regularly creates web pages for the business and even redesigned Billian’s demo site.
