Thousands of small businesses could be affected over the next 12 months as a result of the financial troubles facing the outsourcing sector, a Lancashire insolvency expert has warned.
Paul Barber, who chairs the insolvency and restructuring trade body R3 in the North West, is calling for government to do more to safeguard its payments to small firms.
The value of subcontracts to small firms from government projects is estimated at more than £34bn a year.
