Becky Toal, managing director of Crowberry Consulting, has been nominated for the Inspirational Woman in Business and STEM Award.
The award is hosted by Baroness Sandy Verma and Roni Savage in conjuction with Jomas Associates, Natwest and Federation of Small Business.
The awards follow the Alison Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship which highlighted that woman entrepeneurs are underrepresented in the most productive sectors of the UK economy, and that female entrepreneurship could add a further £250 bn to the UK economy.
The review recommends encouraging women to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects as a key to increasing female start-up rates in those sectors.
It is widely accepted tha the lack of visible female role models in the STEM industry contributes to the low numbers of females taking up STEM related careers.
This campagin is an opportunity to identify inspirational female business owners in STEM and Construction who can act as role models for future generations. These are women challenging the status quo, in typically male dominated sectors.
Becky Toal MD said: "It is a real honour to be nominated and to have the opportunity to meet other female owners of businesses in the STEM arena. The team are looking forward to meeting all those nominated at the awards evening in the House of Lords in London!"
