Beaverbrooks the Jewellers is celebrating a major achievement by chairman, Mark Adlestone who has been announced as a newly appointed deputy lieutenant for Greater Manchester.
Mark, who was recognised for his philanthropic values on the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2015 and awarded an OBE for his services to business and charity in the North of England, has been officially appointed to the position this week.The commission means that Mark will now assist the lord lieutenant in carrying out his role as the Queen’s representative in Greater Manchester. Mark may be asked for his help with honours nominations, assessments for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services, suggesting names for Royal Garden Parties and participation in citizenship ceremonies.
Charity-figurehead Mark, who was recognised as ‘UK’s Best Leader’ by ‘The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For,’ for the fifth time in 2015, said: “I am proud and honoured and see this appointment as a great reflection on our wonderful company, as well as the work of The Fed, the leading social and welfare organisation within the Jewish Community of Greater Manchester, of which I am chairman.“This is a wonderful and exciting opportunity for me and I look forward to developing my involvement within the community and from time to time undertaking public duties on behalf of the lord lieutenant of Greater Manchester.” Since the year 2000, Beaverbrooks has donated more than £11m to worthy causes and has been named in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For for 14 consecutive years.
