Bay Business Angels, the investment network in the North Lancashire and South Cumbria area recently hosted a virtual pitching event which helped Lancaster businesses secure investment.
The group attracts a high quality and diverse range of businesses to their bi-annual events and its most recent pitching event included 5 Lancaster based businesses. Two of which were created by students of Lancaster University’s Management School.
Pete Cornwall from Lancaster University Management School said “We are really pleased with the success of the Bay Business Angels group. The aim of the group is to demonstrate the high quality of businesses and entrepreneurs in the Bay area and to have all Lancaster based businesses pitching at the event this time was fantastic. It proves we have excellent, innovative and vibrant young companies in the North West and that we can rival the traditional major centres for business start-ups.
The partnership between the University’s Management School and the Bay Business Angels network means that we can offer unique support and fantastic opportunities to businesses that it engages with.”
The group is backed by some of the leading businesses in Cumbria and Lancashire including top ten ranked and International University of the Year*, Lancaster University and its highly reputable Management School. Other leading businesses involved in the group are Commercial law firm Baines Wilson, accountants MHA Moore and Smalley and Azets, banks NatWest and Barclays and Manchester based Access to Finance.
The next events will be a mini-pitch selection event in February with the main pitching event following in April.
