Bay Business Angels help secure over £500K funding

By Baines Wilson LLP

11 May 2021

Bay Business Angels, a group that facilitates ‘Angel’ equity investment into North West based companies, secured over £500K of funding at its latest pitching event.

The group, which is the only business angels investment network based in the North Lancashire and Cumbria area, attracts a high quality and diverse range of businesses to their events across a range of sectors, from the latest technology to traditional such as food and drink and engineering businesses.

In reflection of the success of the group and the high quality of businesses that have pitched to the Business Angels, on average 60% of businesses receive investment offers, this is usually around 5-10%.

The group is holding its next investment event virtually on 26 May.

It will include pitches from a variety of businesses including food and drink, medical, digital, mental health and wellbeing, packaging and sustainability.

Jennifer Bell, Corporate Partner at Baines Wilson comments:

“We are pleased with the continuing success of our events and the fantastic investment opportunities they offer businesses. Our panel of leading professional services allow us to provide unique support to local businesses and entrepreneurs who attend and are involved. Our next event on 26 May will see pitches from some very interesting investment opportunities.”

There is no requirement to invest in the businesses pitching, we simply provide a chance for these dynamic and innovative businesses to present their ideas and offer you exciting opportunities to potentially add to your portfolio.

The group is backed by some of the leading businesses in Cumbria and Lancashire including Lancaster University and its highly reputable Management School. A partnership that enables the Bay Business Angels network to offer unique support and fantastic opportunities to businesses that it engages with.

Other leading businesses involved in the group are Commercial Law firm Baines Wilson, Accountancy firms in MHA Moore and Smalley and Azets, Banks in NatWest, Barclays and funding specialists, Manchester based Access to Finance.
