Over each year I will receive a number of enquiries from the professional and business community re anxiety around speaking in front of others.
The consequences can be devastating if the anxiety prevails both in terms of performance in the work place and in context of personal lives and relationships.
- Understanding the origin of the problem through counselling and developing insights that allow you see how the primitive mind compromises us when perceiving threat and offerring a 'fight or flight' response is often a relief. It helps you 'make sense' of where the anxiety comes from and to see it as a response rather than 'failing' or 'weakness'. This is often a starting point along a journey to a more relaxed you.
- Mind Management techniques using therapuetic approaches around self talk and how this impacts self belief, image, how we feel and consequently how we perform are effective and empowering. If you can 'talk yourself' into one way of being you can talk yourself into a different more positive way of being.
- Clinical Hypnotherapy (a million miles away from the nonsense of the stage) can be extremely useful in nurturing the ability to manage and control the symptoms of anxiety, even extreme anxiety such as in panic attacks. Letting go of the fear of feat itself, being less impacted by worry around how we think others see us, and simple techniques like 'anchoring' relaxed feelings so we can access them when we need to, all help.
- Life Coaching and addressing lifestyle issues ...the 'bio' element.. alcohol, caffiene, sugar shock, exercise and rest are all areas that if addressed will position you to be more comfortable and at ease with yourself in any situation.
''The sessions have really helped. I am managing so much better at work, feeling relaxed and confident in meetings. At home my wife has noticed I am much better and able to enjoy myself again''
